Class Description
The desire to throw large pots is something that just about every potter has at one time or another. And often it is met with frustration, especially if you are relatively new to wheel throwing. "Throwing Large" is a class for students who are able to center 4 or more pounds of clay and seek an in-depth hands-on experience.

Learn how to make your own test tiles and get a new understanding of ingredients. Students will choose and mix their own base recipes using colorants & opacifiers.
Students will also mixing up their own color tests and problem solves by making adjustments with additives.

HAND BUILDING & WHEEL THROWING: Discover the basics of pottery and learn all about hand-building and wheel throwing. You will learn how to center, open and pull to make cups, cylinders, and bowls on the pottery wheel, as well as hand-building projects and techniques such as pinch, coil, slab. You will also learn related techniques such as making and attaching handles, trimming, embellishments, surface design, painting and glazing. Classes also include 8 extra hours of studio time for independent practice and finish work. All supplies provided.

Wheel Throwing 101 & 102
Beginner & All Levels
Designed for all levels of expertise. Discover the basics of pottery and learn all about how to throw on the Potter’s Wheel. Focus on hand-building with coils, slab work and mixed methods construction. Each class will feature a new project theme. Beginners will start small and intermediate and advanced students will be able to take technique, size, and scale to the next level. SBAP will feature different projects to meet the needs of new students to clay as well as continuing students who want to repeat the class multiple times. Classes also include seven extra hours of studio time for independent practice and finish work. All supplies provided. *NOTE: This class is in the upstairs studio and students should be comfortable walking up a flight of stairs.

Hand-Building & Wheel Throwing: In this beginners and all levels pottery class you will learn about the fundamentals of hand-building and wheel throwing by learning how to design and make uniquely creative functional forms to eat, drink, and serve from. Throughout this class you will have lots of options to explore forms centered around setting the table and serving dishes. Plenty of step-by-step instructions, examples and patterns for your use will be provided. Some examples of project work include (but not limited to): pitchers, berry bowls, cheese boards, juicers, butter dishes, sugar & creamer set, taco plate, lemon juicer,
personal crock, pour-over coffee-crock, egg cups, avocado boat, serving bowls, platters and more! All
supplies provided.
