Since 2007, South Broadway Art Project has provided totally unique high-quality art education opportunities for students of all ages, especially young people. We started as a small project in the park in the heart of Dutchtown and have grown to become a community focused creative hub for the neighborhoods of South City and the entire St. Louis region.
We believe process over product enables children to look in-ward and nurture their own unique and innate creativity and thus form a strong belief in their own abilities. The studio is a motivated art classroom that is managed in a nurturing way to support young artists in their journey to center their mind, body and creativity.
Kids pottery classes learn how to work with their hands as a way to become more visually literate which is an essential way for young people to better understand themselves and the world around them. Teaching young people how to enhance their own lives and community through all things clay, ceramics and pottery is an integral part of learning about and making art at SBAP in St. Louis
The studios at South Broadway Art Project is home to a fully functioning professional pottery and ceramics workspace featuring pottery wheels, hand-building, painting and glazing, kilns, lots of tools, interesting equipment, endless possibilities and more... Kids pottery Saint Louis is designed with a cooperative multi-level approach for children ages 7-12 years old.
Students will learn all about and experience clay from it's most primitive forms and techniques to more modern methodologies and practice. Some clay classes focus more on wheel work while others focus more on hand-building skills and projects. All of our kids classes also have a broad theme that encourages imaginative experimentation and creative risk-taking.
All sales are final, no refunds. If you should need to reschedule please do so within 7 days of your class date. Students may make up missed classes by attending on a Saturday or making other arrangements with the instructor or SBAP Office.

Kids pottery classes start promptly at 9:00am and front door will open at 8:55am. For the first class of each session the front door will open at 8:45am to allow a bit more time for first-time student check-in procedures.
Please drop your child off for class between 8:55-9am. Children do not need to be signed-in but parents and guardians will need to sign your child out on the clip board by the front door. Pick-up is at 10:30am and children will be dismissed and sent to the front entrance once they are all cleaned up and ready to leave. Please try to arrive for pick-up on time as we do have other classes starting soon after the Kids Pottery Class.
We ask parents to either drop-off and come back for pick-up or have a seat and wait in the front entrance area. With the intention of making the most of our 90 minute class time we ask that parents and guardians do not enter the pottery studio or paint and glaze room unless there is an emergency or a situation that requires extra attention. Parents who want to watch their child in class are welcome to hang outside and watch through the front windows of the pottery studio.
Children should be age 7 by the first class of each session.
Kids Pottery classes are designed for children only age 7-12. If you want to have a pottery experience with your child consider signing up for an a'la carte class such as Make A Mug Workshop or Paint Your Own Pottery
Classes that are full will have a link to a wait list. In the event that spots open up for the class we will send an email with more information on how to complete the registration process.
